Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach
to pest management that relies on a combination of common-sense practices. IPM programs
use current, comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interaction
with the environment. This information, in combination with available pest control
methods, is used to manage pest damage by the most economical means, and with the
least possible hazard to people, property and the environment, and all of our applications
are made by licensed personnel.
Terranova employs recycling methods in our everyday operations that limit their
environmental impact while delivering the highest quality results. Grass-Cycling
through the use of high RPM mulching mowers with specially designed cutting decks
reduce grass clippings to a fine mulch that is redistributed into the lawn, providing
nutrients back into the lawn while conserving water.
Terranova is proud to offer organic alternatives to chemical lawn care, and promotes
the use of natural composts and fertilizers into the landscape.
Terranova encourages on-site composting and recycling of leaves and green waste
whenever possible. When debris needs to be hauled off site, we use the most efficient
methods of material reduction and compaction to limit waste volume and excess fuel
use in hauling. Terranova only disposes of green waste in facilities specializing
in recycling green material and never disposes of organic waste in landfills.
Using the most advanced equipment technology such as electronic direct fuel injection,
four-cycle hand held equipment and clean-diesel technology such as biodiesel made
from recycled vegetable oil which translates to less fossil fuel consumption. In
fact, even our office uses compact fluorescent lighting and digitally controlled
thermostats to manage heating and cooling energy. When it comes to efficiency, we
live it.
We wear orange for a reason! No priority is greater than safety from our bright
orange uniforms to the latest advances in equipment and operation. We constantly
search for innovative ways to protect our staff and the people we work around. We
strive to maintain a safe work environment and encourage an environment that fosters
safety, and we’re always improving.
